So this is me.....

My Personal Practice

Since the birth of my second child Charlie, my personal practice has started to centre around my family and the narrative of motherhood. Exploring notions of motherhood, identity and the intensity of the every day, I am exploring the vernacular and domestic functions of the family in my photography.

Post-Graduate Study

In September 2016 I embarked on my biggest change yet and started studying an MA in Photography at Plymouth University. This opportunity has cultivated a new confidence, drive and direction in my work, exploring elements of the family unit.

My photographic practice focuses on family narrative and it’s role in contemporary visual culture. My work concentrates on my attempts to reconcile my roles as a mother, and a photographer. I have begun to examine and document my responsibilities as a mother of two young boys, whilst also comprehending my position of matriarch within my family. Investigating the notion of the self and identity, my practice centers around the vernacular and domestic functions, exploring motherhood, vulnerability and narrative.

We are Family

We all know family life can be a challenge at times,  through my work I am attempting to reconcile my role as a mother and a photographer. Beginning to examine and document my responsibilities as a daughter and a mother, whilst also comprehending my position of matriarch within a modern family unit.
